First Quarter Meeting

Attend the Arkansas Trucking Association Accounting & Finance Council meeting on Tuesday, March 6 at the Victory Building, Suite 445, 1401 W. Capitol Ave, Little Rock, AR 72201.

The meeting will be held from 10:00 am to 2 pm, and lunch will be sponsored by McLeod Software and served while attendees network with other safety professionals in the industry and learn from experts in a workshop-style presentation.

Ken Craig is a former North American Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Information Systems for the Dutch giant Philips Consumer Electronics. For several years he provided Virtual CIO consulting, IT leadership, and strategic planning to many American companies helping them with all aspects of enterprise information systems including strategic planning, operations management, data management, and project execution. He has over 37 years' experience in business and data process alignment for small to medium businesses as well as Fortune 100 companies. 
 
Ken has managed several information technology services and consulting companies in the US and internationally -- including his service as the first President of SAP Brazil, and President of Origin North America's SAP Practice.

The Blockchain Revolution in Transport

President, Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BITA)

Chris Burruss is the president of the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA) and the Blockchain in Transport Alliance Standards Council (BiTAS). From 2004 until 2014 he served as President of the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA); the only national trade association exclusively serving the truckload segment of the trucking industry. Prior to that he held positions as President & CEO of the Tennessee Trucking Association and Vice President of the Missouri Trucking Association.

During his career, he has worked with trucking companies of all sizes; from small carriers to Fortune 500 companies. In addition, he has worked closely with the extensive vendor community that serves and works alongside the trucking industry as well as other interests in the supply chain. Chris has lobbied on behalf of trucking at the local, state and national levels. He has also worked closely with state and federal agencies on trucking related matters.

Chris has been a frequent speaker on trucking issues for transportation companies, research organizations, boards of directors, state and national associations. He has appeared in numerous trade publications as well as appearing on television and terrestrial and satellite radio on behalf of the trucking industry.
Chris is a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Blockchain in Action

U of A teamUniversity of Arkansas College of Business winning Hackaton team

Lane Black, Anna Grace Franklin, Michelle Garcia and Katy Venkataratinam are all current students in the Masters of Information Systems program at the University of Arkansas, Walton College of Business. All four team members have a concentration in Enterprise Systems.

The four competed as a team in the 2017 U of A Blockchain Hackathon and won first place. Currently, the team is working to improve their blockchain project, which is a solution to optimize the carrier payment process. They are also exploring the integration of blockchain with micro-services.

Lane and Anna Grace are both from Arkansas, Katy is from India, and Michelle is from Bolivia. After graduation, Lane and Katy will both be working for Walmart, Lane in user experience research and Katy in enterprise automation as a programmer analyst. Michelle and Anna Grace will be consultants, Michelle for Ernest and Young, and Anna Grace for Credera.
