The Arkansas Trucking Association Self Insurers’ Fund has declared a $700,000 dividend to 57 trucking companies that are enrolled in its workers’ compensation insurance trust.
The Arkansas Trucking Association created the insurance trust in 1993 to help members control the cost of workers’ compensation insurance. The trust, which provides coverage to over 4,200 employees, stabilizes costs and rewards employers for safe operations. Any surplus premiums collected are returned to members in the form of dividends after injury claims and other expenses are paid.
“Safety is our top priority as an industry, and the members of our fund recognize the importance of investing in the safety of every employee,” said Shannon Newton, the association’s president. “We celebrate and reward that effort because even small businesses can have a large impact when we work together for the safety of the roads we all share.”
Newton said that the fund has distributed more than $25.8 million in dividends to enrolled trucking companies since the Arkansas Trucking Association created the fund and $11.1 million since 2010.
Members in good standing with good loss experiences received dividend checks ranging from $100 to 101,000.
