New Razorback Baseball Facility to be named for Ark. Trucking family

A new operations building for Razorback baseball at the University of Arkansas will bear the name of truckers J.B. and Johnelle Hunt. The Hunt family has donated $10 million to the $27 project that is scheduled to open in 2021.

The J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Baseball Development Center will be the second namesake building at the UA campus for the founders of J.B. Hunt Transport in Lowell, Ark. The other, J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. Center for Academic Excellence, houses classrooms and received its name in 2007 after J.B.’s passing in 2006.

“I know that Coach Dave Van Horn, his staff and our entire team are excited for this spectacular new addition to our program,” UA Athletics Director Hunter Yurachek said in a statement. “We are grateful for the Hunts’ extraordinary investment in the lives of our student-athletes and the future of Razorback Baseball.”
