Technician Scholarship

Carl Tapp Technician Scholarship

The Carl Tapp Memorial Scholarship Fund was founded in 2017 and named in honor of a founding member of the ATA Technician Curriculum Advisory Committee. The Carl Tapp Technician Scholarship supports aspiring techs in their education and certification pursuits at Arkansas institutions that produce workforce-prepared diesel technicians.

Through these scholarships, ATA is encouraging growth in the state’s technician workforce, providing career paths for students, and ensuring the safest, most knowledgeable and skilled technicians are working on the trucks and trailers on our nation’s roads.

Applicants must be graduating seniors from accredited high schools. Scholarships of up to $7,500 will be awarded for students attending a minimum two-semester medium- and heavy-duty truck technician program at an Arkansas institution.

Contact Sarah Newman sarahnewman@arkansastrucking.com for more information about the Scholarship Fund. In May 2024, the Arkansas Trucking Association Scholarship Fund received 501c3 status, and all donations to the Carl Tapp Scholarship are considered charitable and deductible.

Since 2017, the Arkansas Trucking Association has awarded $97,500 in scholarships to 13 students interested in pursuing careers as medium and heavy duty truck technicians.
