Greer Woodruff earns Highway to Victory Award

Arkansas’ Greer Woodruff, senior vice president of safety, security and driver personnel at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, was among those honored by American Trucking Associations Image and Advocacy Award, which acknowledges outstanding industry advocacy efforts.

The Highway to Victory Award is given to someone who has championed the associations’ legislative agenda and has gone well above and beyond in promoting and advocating for the top legislative interests of the trucking industry.

While testifying before the House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Woodruff shared trucking’s safety story, telling Members of Congress that safety is the industry’s number one priority, and that trucking spends over $9 billion annually on safety.

Bill Sullivan, EVP of advocacy for the American Trucking Associations, said the award is like “the Heisman Trophy of Advocacy” and one of the most significant honors ATA bestows.

“Indeed, this individual has been a safety warrior for the industry for years, spearheading our advocacy efforts on electronic logging devices, hours of service, autonomous vehicle technologies and hair testing,” Sullivan said when announcing Woodruff as this year’s recipient. “And this individual has also been at the very forefront of our efforts to combat California’s duplicative meal and rest breaks standards. Helping to fight this issue in the courts, on Capitol Hill, and now before the Department of Transportation.
