Every September, law enforcement and Arkansas trucking companies join forces to hold a Truck Convoy for Special Olympics Arkansas. And despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the convoy was able to continue once again, albeit with a few modifications.
Rather than gather for one convoy, companies were once again challenged to participate in a two-week long event that would aim to reach as many states as possible. Forty (40) truck drivers representing nine companies accepted the challenge and set off on Sept. 11 to cover 36 states in two weeks. In all, they raised nearly $30,000 and helped bring awareness to Special Olympics athletes.
The two-week Convoy Challenge was supported by the following event partners: Maverick Transportation; CCS Transportation; ABF Freight; CalArk International, Central Hauling; JM Bozeman Enterprises; Walmart Transportation; Laubach Companies; Timmons Transit and the Arkansas Trucking Association. The event is a part of Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Arkansas hosted by the Arkansas Highway Police.
